Shuagh Prior Falls

Shuagh Prior Falls

White water cascaover rocks at Shaugh Prior.
The River Plym winds down through 3000 year old settlements and is a particularly interesting location for this type of photography.

This capture was composed to ensure the long rock was placed in the foreground with the single leaf as added interest, this leaf was not placed?? I liked the way flowing water was just right to ensure that a silky effect could be gained by a long exposure as the water run off the leading edge of the rock.

It was difficult to ensure the rest of the white water did not get over exposed during this capture.

The light breaking through the canopy of the trees in the distance was just enough to highlight the gnarly trees and moss covered rocks that run along the riverbank. The sky was deliberatly left out of the shot as this would have been impossible to avoid blown highlights without additional camera trickery such as exposure fusion.

This shot is a single exposure with a combination of ND grads and polorising filter.
